Phacoemulsification Surgery: It is the most common cataract treatment surgery. This surgery is less time consuming as an eye doctor hardly takes 30 minutes for this surgery. Extracapsular Surgery: Patients at advance stage of cataract are treated through Extracapsular Surgery. This form of surgery is required in those cases, when the patients lens is too dense to get dissolved into fragments because, then through Extracapsular Surgery, the eye specialist removes the eye cataract without going through the process of lens fragmenting. In this kind of surgery more numbing medications and large incision are required to be applied around the eye. Through the surgery, the doctor basically places an artificial lens in the capsular bag. For the purpose, various sutures are used to close the large eye wound. Also, the patient is recommended to cover the operated eye covered through an eye patch in order to keep it protected from harmful elements of the environment. After this surgery, eye recovery is slow and till the recovery is complete, the patient needs to keep the eye protected with the eye patch.
Intracapsular Surgery: This kind of cataract surgery is rarely used now days, it has become obsolete. This surgery causes wound even larger than the Extracapsular Surgery, because in this surgery, the doctor not just remove the entire eye lens but also removes the capsule that surrounds the lens. As accepted, the recovery is slower and the patient required to on heavy numbing medications. In this strategy, stitches are required to close the big wound and also an eye patch is put on eyes patient to keep it protected.
