As the number of seniors going to retirement homes increases, the demand for senior care workers also increases. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment rate in retirement facilities is expected to increase in the years to come. This employment rate is attributed to a number of professionals needed in retirement homes, such as dieticians and nutritionists, home health aides, recreational therapists, social workers, activities coordinators, and senior center assistants.

Dieticians and nutritionists can work in hospitals, personality training centers, clinics, and even in retirement homes. They are hired to plan and manage food and nutrition programs for seniors, including their special dietary requirements. They may also collaborate with health care or social service professionals as they give training in meal preparation.

Most retirement homes in the United States are in need of workers who can assist the seniors in maintaining independent living. Such assistance involves services such as medication management, and monitoring and recording vital signs. These tasks are performed by home health aides. They are also hired to accompany the seniors in performing household tasks if they are still staying in their own residences.

Seniors who are in need of therapeutic services are often assisted by recreational therapists. They design activities aimed to improve the overall well-being of seniors, promote self-sufficiency and socialization, encourage physical movement and mental activity and, in some cases, work towards rehabilitation. Recreational therapists usually have associate or bachelor's degrees in therapeutic recreation.

Professionals with a bachelor's degree in social work may also find a job opportunity in Fort Worth senior housing facilities. These professionals are tasked to coordinate services, make referrals, assist seniors regarding housing or finance, and arrange services to help seniors stay in their homes. Social workers may need a bachelor degree or license for them to work in retirement communities.

Fort Worth retirement communities also hire activities coordinators. They are responsible for planning and implementing activities for seniors in the community. Some of these activities are special events and holiday celebrations that promote physical and mental wellness. Families who want to join their loved ones in a specific activity may get in touch with the resident activities coordinator.

Those who are looking for an administrative position may also try working in any North Richland Hills senior living facility as senior center assistants. They are the ones who take in referrals and monitor the overall experience of seniors at the center. Administrative experience and training are often required before an individual becomes a senior center assistant.
