Is there anyone who cannot make financial ends meet that doesn't want to eliminate credit card debt? People who, for whatever reason, have overused their credit cards and now face the consequences of their actions seek serious solutions to their financial problems.

One solution is to seek out professional debt reduction help. Professional services analyze your difficulty with you, offering hard-nosed solutions to rectify the trouble. One of the pragmatic solutions is the Snowball Method discussed below.

The Snowball Method takes its name from the snowball rolling down a hill, gaining momentum as it gets bigger and bigger.

When appropriately used, the Snowball Method is one in which your capacity to pay down balances gains steam as time passes.

The Step-by-Step Snowball Method Outlined

Step 1: List all of your credit card debts in rank order from lowest to highest. The purpose of this list is to help you evaluate your debts in an objective manner in order to create an overall strategy for your repayment plan.

Step 2: Pay the minimum balance on all debts every month. By knowing the minimum payment, you can plug that number into a reasonable budget.

Step 3: Determine the discretionary funds left in your budget. The discretionary money in your budget can now be used to pay more than the minimum on your smallest balance. The thing to remember is that these funds must only be used to attack your outstanding balances until they are completely eliminated.  This involves determined sacrifice on your part.

Step 4: Eliminate and repeat. Once you completely eliminate the smallest balance, you repeat the cycle using the discretionary funds plus the minimum payment on the first card to pay down the balance on the next smallest balance.

As each balance is paid off, your ability to pay down the next lowest balance increases until all your debt is eliminated. As time passes, then, your ability to pay down your outstanding balances continues to pick up momentum; hence the Snowball Method gets its name.

Using the Snowball Method prudently, with an unyielding sense of purpose, shaves years off your ability to eliminate credit card debt altogether. A word to the wise, no path to complete elimination of debt is without its sacrifices. During the time you are paying down your obligations nearly all of your surplus income needs to go into your repayment plan. The good news, however, is that you will build in a new financial discipline that will stay with you for all time. Why not give it a try?
