How to Cover Chairs for a Wedding
- 1). Roll out the fabric chair cover and fit it over the chair. Begin with the chair back and work your way down to the seat and legs. Many chair covers offer a universal fit, meaning it should adequately cover any chair. There also might be tie-backs included on the chair cover to secure it tightly.
- 2). Use straight pins or safety pins if necessary to bring up the hem of a chair cover that is too long or to tuck in any bits of fabric that need securing around the sides of the chair back or the perimeter of the seat. Avoid attaching pins anywhere you guests will be sitting or leaning, and try to use safety pins in places where your guests might be pushing or pulling at the chair.
- 3). Center the fabric sash on the front side of the chair back, where your guests will be sitting, and tie it around the chair to the rear of the chair back, knotting a decorative ribbon to secure it in place. The height of the sash is a matter of preference. A shorter sash can be tied low on the chair back just above the seat, or longer sashes can be tied higher. If you are worried about the sash staying in place, straight pins or security pins can be added to the sides or rear of the chair back, with the majority of the pins hidden beneath the sash.
- 4). Personalize the look of the wedding chair covers by considering alternative touches. A single flower can be added to the back of each chair, in addition to or in lieu of a sash, for an elegant touch. A single strand of glass beads, crystals, or rhinestones can be attached down the back of the chair for extra glamour. Consider attaching fabric appliqués or fabric flowers around the base or top of the chair back for a modern look. Shop your local craft store for ideas and inspiration.
