How to Clean Metal Parts

    • 1). Spray or pour a capful of metal cleaner onto the part. Sheila Shine Cleaner, Magic American Cleaner or Kleen King Cleaner is available in local home department or car stores. Let the cleaner soak into the metal for about eight minutes.

    • 2). Scrub the metal piece with the brush that has pliable bristles. The larger the part, the larger the brush should be. Scour the metal part in a back and fourth motion. Clean in circles on round pieces to get into the cracks and crevices.

    • 3). Add additional metal cleaner to one washcloth. This will clean the parts the brush may have missed. Rub the entire cloth around and over the metal. Use your fingers to extend to hard to reach areas.

    • 4). Use warm water on the second washcloth. Wipe the complete area to remove any excess dirt and debris. Let the part air dry.
