• The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park features a range of things to do. Museums in the park include the Civil War Museum, the John Brown Museum that tells about slavery and the Industry Museum, which tells about industrial and transportation technology in the area. John Brown Wax Museum

• Wax museums often feature celebrities and politicians. The John Brown Wax Museum, however, tells the story of the abolitionist from his youth to his famous raid and execution. On Oct.16,1859, Brown and 17 men tried to steal weapons from the federal armory in Harpers Ferry. The raid failed and Brown was eventually hanged. The incident was one of the events that launched the Civil War.
