    • 1). To clean a vinyl floor on a regular basis, use a mild detergent and warm water with a mop. Do not use hot water. The heat from the water will loosen the glue on the vinyl's backing. Regular cleaning should be performed on a weekly basis, or more if the floor is in a high-traffic area.

    • 2). To clean stains, use a 50-50 mixture of bleach and warm water with a mop.

    • 3). To clean heavy stains, mix 1/2 cup glycerin with 1 1/2 cups warm water. Soak a clean rag in the mixture and then wring out the rag so that it is still wet but not dripping. Lay the wet rag on the stain and let it set overnight. Wash the floor with a mild detergent and warm water in the morning.

    • 4). To clean spills such as nail polish or paint, blot up as much of the spill as you can. Do not rub the spill, because you will smear it. Wait for the excess to dry. When the excess of the spill has completely dried, use fine steel wool to gently scrub off the remaining spot.

    • 5). To remove black shoe marks use lemon juice on a soft-bristle brush to scrub away marks.

    • 6). To fix a vinyl floor tile that has begun to lift at the edges, use a hair dryer to heat up the vinyl floor tile and self-stick backing until warm to the touch. Place something heavy on the edge for an hour or so.
