How to Make a Strawberry Pyramid Planter
- 1). Measure a 1-by-4-inch-by-8-foot board with a tape measure and draw lines across it using a square, so you can cut it into the following lengths: 30 inches, 27 inches, 21 inches and 15 inches. Saw the board to those lengths with a hand saw or circular saw. Repeat with three other boards, so you have four pieces of each length.
- 2). Saw a 1-by-4-inch-by-3-foot board into four pieces, each 9 inches long.
- 3). Drill three 1/4-inch-diameter pilot holes in one of the 30-inch boards, 3/8 inch from the end. Hold a second 30-inch board against it at right angles and drill 1/8-inch pilot holes through the first holes, into the end of the second board. Screw the boards together, using 2-1/2-inch screws. Drill similar holes in the second board and screw a third board to it at right angles to create a U-shape with three boards. Attach the fourth 30-inch board the same way, across the end of the U, to form a square.
- 4). Drill three 1/4-inch-diameter pilot holes in one of the 27-inch boards, 3 1/2 inches from the end. Hold a second 27-inch board against it at right angles and drill 1/8-inch pilot holes through the first holes, into the end of the second board. Screw the boards together, using 2-1/2-inch screws. Drill similar holes in the second board and screw a third board to it at right angles to create a U-shape with three boards. Attach the fourth 27-inch board the same way, across the end of the U, to form a square. Unlike the first square, this square will have boards sticking out about 3 inches from each corner.
- 5). Repeat the same steps with the 21-inch boards, attaching the boards 3 inches in from the ends to create a smaller square with boards sticking out at each corner.
- 6). Repeat the same steps with the 15-inch and 9-inch boards.
- 7). Set the largest square where you want your strawberry pyramid to be and fill it with soil.
- 8). Set the next largest square on top so the boards sticking out on the ends rest on the square below. Fill it with soil.
- 9). Stack the rest of the squares on top from largest to smallest, filling each with topsoil.
