Advertising Kiosks
- A kiosk is a compact portable structure (usually on wheels) placed in a public area to get the attention of passersby. The kiosk has walls, shelves or similar space where you can place items for sale or if you plan to use the structure as a type of advertising vehicle, you can place posters, signs and handbills on the surfaces. Some kiosks contain an inside area where someone can stand while others only have area available on the outside to place the ads.
- Renting advertising space on a kiosk is usually less expensive compared to renting space on a billboard or other established property. Instead of renting a billboard that can cost up to $2,500 per month, you can sometimes rent advertising space on a small kiosk instead for several hundred dollars per month at your local shopping center. If you're concerned about advertising costs but print advertising works best for your business, this is a method to explore seriously. Also, because a kiosk is portable, you can ask to change the location if you find that the foot traffic in that specific area is non-existent or doesn't contain members of your target audience.
- Before selecting a location to place advertising on a kiosk, decide on your target market. For instance, teenagers age 13 to 18 who love video games may be your primary audience. Next, research demographics in the area to find out if members of your target market populate the area. You'll often find kiosks outside on the street or inside shopping centers --- namely malls. Some malls do all the work for you --- they'll provide you with demographics information in addition to the kiosk rental.
- You can also buy or lease your own kiosk structure to use for advertising. If so, make sure you get any permits required to run the kiosk legally in the area. This is particularly important if you plan to place an advertising kiosk outdoors in a public area. Don't risk being fined for placing the kiosk in public areas without permission. Also, do not neglect the opportunity to sell from your kiosk in addition to displaying the advertisements.
