How to Check Bank Routing Numbers
- 1). Visit your bank's website and do a search to see if it has published its routing number information online. Type in "bank routing number" along with your bank name and city and state for the search. Sometimes banks have different routing numbers depending on your state or region. Bank of America, a very popular nationwide bank, has an easy search tool that allows you to search by state to determine your routing number.
- 2). Call your bank's 800 number (enter your bank account information into the automated system as you would normally so that the representative can pull up your account quickly), and ask the bank representative to verify your bank routing number.
- 3). If you have physical checks, you can simply look at the bottom left corner to check your bank routing number. The routing number is the first nine-digit number listed at the bottom of your check.
- 4). If you are trying to verify a bank routing number or a batch of bank routing numbers to assure that they are correct, there are a number of online services that allow you to run a routing number in order to identify the bank name. Many businesses that take ACH payments will need this type of service to check routing and account numbers before entering them for processing.
