    • 1). Check to see if you qualify for residency through a relative. This usually allows you to be grandfathered in through a much easier process than if you have no relative living in Canada. Immigrants can apply for six types of residencies; the skilled workers class, business class, provincial nomination, family class immigration, Quebec-selected immigration and international adoption.

    • 2). Quebec-selected immigration allows you to be given residency based on a Canadian federal government agreement with Quebec to allow these residents permanent status in Canada. Quebec selected immigration allows students, permanent and temporary workers, families and sponsored refugees to safely and legally live and work in Canada.

    • 3). Take the Canadian skills test to proceed with the application for permanent residency. Depending on your score the Canadian immigration personnel will instruct you to then fill out the application for residency. This test gives points for your education level, the languages you speak fluently, your age, your professional background and family ties in Canada.

    • 4). Contact the nearest Canadian consulate, and obtain the proper paper work for applying for residency. You will be required to provide documentation of a medical certificate, criminal check, pay any immigration fees which do change yearly and attend an immigration interview after approval.

    • 5). Begin living in Canada without the worry of illegal stay because Canada does not actually require you to have an approved residency card to live in Canada, however, it does require work authorization for you to legally work in Canada, especially as a professional.
