The game operates through several servers, or as they are known in WOW, realms; this makes it easier for everyone to have a server near to them so that they can connect and play the game without problems.
In the World of Warcraft game, everything takes place in a world called Azeroth, a unique place with its own history, myths and naturally, unusual characters and creatures.
The premise is that after creating the world the gods made the earliest races complete with oceans, rivers, caves, caverns, forests, etc.
Much like any other world, real and fictional, there has been lots of pain and conflicts as well.
There are three continents on Azeroth, the Eastern Kingdom, Kalimdor and Northrend.
The Eastern Kingdom has gnomes, dwarves and humans, Kalimdor has trolls, Taurens and Orcs and in Northrend an evil king by the name of the Lich King rules the land.
When playing World of Warcraft you will need to choose whether you want to play as the Horde or the Alliance.
The Alliance is considered agile and fast but slow in speed; while the Horde is strong and powerful but slow.
One great thing about World of Warcraft is that you get to decide whether you want to be evil or good.
As in most of the other massively multi-player online role playing games (MMORPG) you get to design your own character; however in World of Warcraft you are able to choose from nine different class types for your character.
Each one has their own unique skills, strengths and abilities.
