Top Mistakes to Be Avoided

• PPE training shows what sort of mistakes can be made in the storing and use of the personal protective equipment. A firefighter should not do the following regarding their equipment: leave them in direct sunlight, clean out their coats in a home washing machine with regular detergent, only do a cursory examination of their equipment or ignore drastic changes in color.
  
  

Movement and Balance

• The training demonstrates that movement and balance will be restricted by wearing the personal protective equipment. The training includes balance exercises to offset the problems with gait and balance when wearing PPE.
