Guide Review - "Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story" DVD Review
Jamie Foxx stars in "Redemption" as Stan Tookie Williams, the co-founder of the deadly Crips gang. Now serving time on Death Row for four murders, "Redemption" follows Williams' story from his childhood, to his initiation into a gang, to his current incarceration in San Quentin State Prison and pending execution.
After spending time in prison and reflecting on the life he's led, Williams is now an advocate for peace and heads up a crusade to keep kids out of gangs - and out of prison. Lynn Whitfield co-stars in "Redemption" as writer Barbara Becnel, the author who has interviewed Williams extensively and has co-written his anti-violence books.
"Redemption" is a must-see film, whether or not you support the man behind the words. Williams and his quest to teach teens to steer clear of gangs and violence is an important message to get out there, as the violence among gangs in LA and other major cities continues to escalate.
