You're unemployed and depressed. You think you are the only one who is out of work despite having skills, knowledge and experience.
Though you are aware of top job hunting methods, you haven't yet applied all of them and found hope.
You want to stay upbeat and have watched some inspirational videos that give you instant boost.
Still, you find yourself on the sidelines--watching others enjoying life.
You're not alone.
I've gone through this. When I was out of work, my first reaction was of 'denial'. I never thought I'd be out of work. This made me upset initially--and depressed soon.
This depression started taking its toll on my health--mental and physical.
I became short tempered, lost hunger and couldn't sleep at night.
It seemed to be the end of the world.
But, everything was not bad.
In this period, I read a lot of motivational books and spent time with my friends and family. These things helped me to see the world with fresh mind and enjoy life.
I started doing these activities and enjoyed every moment of it.
Here're some of the activities in Career Planning Services I followed that changed my perspective and helped me maintain the sanity.
1. Greet the Sunrise
I started waking up early. No matter what time I went to bed. Watching the sunrise was the first activity that I started my day with. Watching and appreciating the energy of the Sun made me more energetic.
2. Go For a Walk
I started going for a walk in nearby garden. Greeting the sunrise and walking for 30-45 minutes made me fresh. Soon, I started losing some weight too. Walking helps you strengthen your heart, it's good for your brain and bones. Walking helps you alleviate symptoms of depression. It improves your fitness.
3. Count Your Blessings
Gratitude makes us happier. I started thinking and thanking for the things and the friends and family I had. I slowly developed this habit of changing mind channels. How do you do that? Next time, whenever a negative thought comes to your mind, become aware of the thought, take a deep breath and while releasing the breath, think of your key achievements in your life--howsoever small they are. This will help you change the negative channel and shift to positive channel.
