Guide Review - Kyjen Pooch Pick-Up Bags

Picking up after your pet is not only a courtesy, it is required by law in most places. Besides keeping public areas clean and odor-free, picking up pet waste reduces the spread of parasites and other diseases. These bags may also be used for cat litter scoopings, too.

I walk 3 large dogs and poop pick-up is a big part of the walk time. I have tried numerous types of waste pick up bags, and while I used to think a poop bag is just a poop bag, these bags are a standout for me.

The Kyjen Pooch Pick-Up Bags bags are made out of biodegradable cornstarch, which was the first thing to catch my eye when shopping for bags. This construction means that these plastic bags will degrade much faster than traditional plastic bags.

The bags are large enough to effectively scoop up the waste and tie off the bag when finished. This is especially noteworthy if the stool is a little soft.

So many of the bags I have used are very thin and flimsy, and when full, they are sometimes difficult to tie off completely.

One feature that seemed like fluff at first were the double handles, but I have to say that they come in handy. I use the handles for tying off and for the times we are on a long hike and I need to carry the bag until we can reach a trash receptacle.

The bags I purchased are unscented. I am not sure if it is the larger size or that they are made of cornstarch, but there is definitely less odor emanating from the bag.

Based on my shopping searches, price varies from 6 - 10 cents a bag. There are definitely cheaper options out there, but the peace of mind (size, ease of use, biodegradable, less odor) is worth it for me.

One drawback for me is that the bags I purchased were folded flat and do not fit into my leash bag carrier made for small rolls. This is a small drawback in comparison to the bigger pluses for this bag, so I will continue to use them.

I purchased this product for my own pets.
