Back Home

Stephanie returns home and finds a distressed Chelsea on the sofa, asking her what’s wrong. Besides the fact that Billie is in the hospital, Chelsea admits that she had a breakdown in the process of getting busy and saying goodbye to people. Chelsea cries how her mom will have a really long recovery. Steph assures her cousin that she’ll be in London to help Billie, which will make Chelsea feel better.

Chelsea agrees, but at the same time she’ll feel a lot worse.

Chelsea desponds over leaving her friends, wondering when she’ll see them again. Steph admits that it will be really lonely without her. Chelsea assures her that she and Philip will have the place to themselves. Steph soon answers her phone to Melanie, who alerts her that a crazy nurse tried to kill Philip. She and Chelsea make a beeline to the hospital.

Back at the Hospital

Hope later informs Philip that the woman who tried to smother him stole an ID from another nurse this morning, but they still don’t know her true identity. Philip knows the DiMeras were behind it. Hope states that there will be a new protocol for people entering his room and will have their photo Ids checked at the door. After she exits the room, Philip gets out of bed. Melanie catches him and tells him to get back to bed, as he’s obviously not strong enough. She tries to help a weak Philip stand up, which Steph witnesses. Melanie helps him back into bed and rambles how she was only helping Philip because he was too weak to be walking, since the nurse who tried to kill him drugged him before attempting to smother him.

Philip isn’t happy to know that Melanie called Stephanie, who insists that she doesn’t need to be protected from any more bad news.

After Melanie exits the room, Steph asks how he’s feeling. Philip complains how helpless he feels just lying there. Steph laments not being there to protect him. Philip encourages her to come over to his bedside, assuring her that the attempt on his life wasn’t her fault. She kisses him and tells him to stay in bed and not to do anything crazy, then leaves the room.

Outside the room, Chelsea encounters Hope and is embraced by her. Hope asks about Billie. Chelsea says she’s still the same, but will make a slow recovery. She wonders if they know who the killer nurse is. Hope relays how the nurse keeps saying that she got paid, followed instructions, and did her job. She reveals that Bo got a great lead and is actually on his way to Chicago right now. Chelsea’s heart sinks, wondering what if she doesn’t get a chance to say goodbye to her dad. Hope assures Chelsea that Bo will be back soon, but she believes it might be too late. She reveals that she has to leave for London today. Hope assures her that she’ll call Bo and tell him to come back. Chelsea is glad she had a chance to say goodbye to Hope and thanks her for everything she’s done for her. She laments how she’s done so many things to hurt Hope, yet she’s always forgiven her. “Because I love you,” assures Hope. Chelsea expresses how she never would’ve been the person she is today if it wasn’t for Hope. “I am so proud of the person that you have grown to be,” declares Hope before embracing her. Chelsea admits that saying goodbye to her is the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. Hope expresses how sorry she is about Billie’s accident and assures her how much she’ll be missed in Salem. “You are my daughter, you know that?” smiles Hope. Chelsea hugs her. “I love you Hope,” she professes.

Melanie enters Philip’s room and asks how he’s feeling. Philip only has one goal, which is to get out of there and do what needs to be done.

Back at the Mansion

Nicole phones Dr. Baker and demands for him to meet her at the Java Café in ten minutes. He tells her that he’s on duty, but Nicole urges him to take a break. Nicole rolls her eyes and announces to Marco the bodyguard that she’s leaving.

E.J. is later on the phone and discovers that an attempt was made on Philip’s life in his hospital room. An infuriated E.J. shouts at the top of his lungs, warning Masi that he’ll deal with him. He slams the phone down, then looks over the information on Dr. Baker.

E.J. answers the door to an angry Stephanie, who demands for the feud to stop now. She storms right in and rehashes how Tony’s death was an accident. “Stop sending people after Philip!” she demands, confronting him over making two attempts on Phil’s life. E.J. denies paying the nurse to try and kill Philip. She tells him to leave Philip alone. E.J. is unmoved and tells her to leave before he calls security. She walks out and E.J. sits down and phones Stefano, urging him to start returning some calls. He informs Stefano that “they tried to deliver the package again,” but failed.

Dr. Baker and Nicole

Dr. Baker arrives at the Java Café and meets Nicole, per her request. Nicole alerts him that a DiMera bodyguard is sitting nearby with a gun, so their meeting has to be a coincidence. Dr. Baker questions why he’s there, stating his refusal to quit the hospital and leave town. Nicole suggests that he change his mind about that if he wants to live. She reveals that Stefano knows he’s a gambler, and she saw the printout of all his debts. However, Stefano didn’t yet find out that he’s a baby broker. Nicole informs him that Stefano is ill and out of town, and she convinced E.J. to drop the investigation at least until Stefano gets back. He insists that he can’t leave town and needs his job. Nicole warns Dr. Baker that Stefano will eventually find out that he’s a baby broker and get him to do or say anything, including telling him about Sami’s baby. Dr. Baker predicts that Stefano will find him wherever he goes. Nicole reiterates her warning about running into Sami, fearing that Sami will eventually put two and two together. She pleads with him to leave town. Dr. Baker refuses and warns her that when E.J. finds out about him, he’ll find out about her as well.
