• Ofloxacin is used to reduce drug-resistant bacteria in the body and is in a group of antibiotics called "fluoroquinolones." Ofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections that cause pneumonia, gonorrhea, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, chlamydia, skin infections and infections of the prostate.
  
  

Identification

• Ofloxacin is available in three different strength tablets: 200mg (light yellow), 300mg (white) and 400mg (pale gold oval). Each tablet has the "Floxin" imprinted on it, along with the appropriate strength.
  
  

Precautions

• Before taking ofloxacin, you should speak with your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: joint problems, kidney or liver disease, myasthenia gravis, diabetes, seizures, epilepsy or low potassium levels in your blood.
  
  

Dosage

• Ofloxacin should be taken exactly as prescribed by your physician. You should not take ofloxacin in larger amounts or for a longer period than recommended by your physician. Take ofloxacin with a full glass of water.
  
  

Warning

• As with all prescription drugs, there are many reported side effects from ofloxacin that you should be aware of before taking this medication. Contact your physician if you experience any of these side effects: seizure; watery or bloody diarrhea; confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior; dizziness, fainting, fast or pounding heartbeat; numbness, burning, pain or tingly feeling in your hands or feet; sudden pain or swelling near your joints; easy bruising or bleeding; urinating less than usual or not at all; pale or yellowed skin, dark-colored urine, fever, weakness; fever, sore throat and headache with a severe blistering, peeling and red skin rash.
