How to Wash Black Pants So They Don't Pill & Get White Stuff on Them
- 1). Clean out the inside of the washing machine with soapy water and a lint free cloth. This will ensure that any existing lint on the inside of the tub will not make its way onto the black pants.
- 2). Turn the pants inside out. This will prevent white detergent stains or lint from getting on the outside of the pants.
- 3). Place the pants into the washing machine with like colored and textured pieces. Do not wash the pants with towel or socks, both of which are covered with lint.
- 4). Avoid overloading the washing machine. This will not allow the water to wash any lint or laundry soap from the pants, which can lead to pills and white stains.
- 5). Add the recommended amount of liquid laundry detergent and 1 cup of white vinegar to the machine. The vinegar will help wash any lint that makes its way onto the pants.
- 6). Wash the pants on the cold temperature setting and in the gentle cycle so that no colors bleed on the pants.
- 7). Remove the pants and place them into the dryer with a fabric softener sheet. The dryer sheet and the tumbling action of the dryer will help remove even more lint balls.
