There are several effective snoring remedies that have been proven to be highly successful for many people who snore.
The problem is; there are simply too many remedies to pick from, making it a difficult and frustrating process for many snorers! The following is a common sensical, step-by-step guide to help you get rid of your snoring: 1.
Before anything, you need to figure out if you're suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, a sleeping disorder where your air passages become blocked and you stop breathing for a few seconds to even a minute or so, before your brain sends a signal to your body to begin breathing again.
This condition, in rare cases, can be life threatening.
The easiest way to initially find out that you might have obstructive sleep apnea is to ask a family member or a friend to watch you while you're sleeping to see if you exhibit these symptoms:snoring loudly, gasping for breath, and a pause in breathing for a few seconds.
If you show signs of these symptoms visit your doctor as soon as possible! If you don't suspect obstructive sleep apnea, continue on with these time-tested, effective snoring remedies.
2.
Start with your weight.
It's difficult for most people to lose a pound, much less the several pounds usually necessary to reduce the airway blockages caused by too much fatty tissues.
However, if you're a man and you're 20% overweight or a woman 30 to 40% overweight, your chances of snoring increase tremendously.
If you're still having trouble losing weight and keeping it off, don't panic just yet, move on to the next step.
3.
If you smoke regularly, stop right now with whatever method you can get your hands on!If that doesn't work..

4.
If you're in the habit of drinking alcohol before going to sleep, don't!If you're still not successful at this point, reconsider the last three entries which are the most common causes of snoring; being overweight, smoking, and drinking alcohol.
Then move to the next suggestion.
5.
Try using nasal strips.
They work!Next, sleep on a fairly firm pillow to keep your neck muscles from relaxing too much.
While we're at it, sleep on your sides instead of your back.
The combination of these three, for many people, are enough to attack snoring and make it go away for good!At this point if your snoring doesn't go away or if it's not reduced at the very least, repeat the above-mentioned steps and re-evaluate whether or not you can realistically make these lifestyle changes.
If not, then it's time to schedule an appointment with your doctor.
As you can see, the most effective snoring remedies, unless you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, are totally controlled by you and how prepared you are to change your lifestyle.
