How to Make Gels for Room Deodorizers
- 1). Fill a medium saucepan with 1 cup of water. Add 15 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil and a few drops of food coloring, if you want your gel deodorize to be colored. Some good essential oils for freshening up a room are vanilla, peppermint, clove or lavender.
- 2). Put the pot over medium-low heat. Once it starts boiling, take it off the heat.
- 3). Add four 1/4-oz. packages of plain gelatin. Stir the mixture until the gelatin has dissolved completely.
- 4). Pour 1 cup of cold water and 2 tbsp. of table salt into the mixture and stir it up gently. Make sure to stir the mixture lightly so it doesn't begin to foam up.
- 5). Pour the mixture into glass jars with lids. Stick them in the refrigerator for two days with the lids off so the gelatin will set. Use a sharp object (screwdriver, knife, etc.) to punch a few holes in the lid of the jar. Take the jars out of the refrigerator and put the lids on.
