What Is Naftin Used for?
- Naftin contains naftifine hydrochloride, the exact action of which is not completely understood. It may prevent enzyme activity involved in synthesizing sterols for the cell membranes in fungi that cause infections like athlete's foot and ringworm.
- The cream should be applied to the affected area once a day. The gel should be used twice a day. The treated skin should not be covered with bandages or dressings. Improvement of symptoms should be observed within a month.
- Side effects from treatment can include burning and redness of the skin, itching and rash. A patient who develops skin irritation from the product should stop using it and consult his doctor.
