How to Install a Tub Surround Wall
- 1). Remove faucets and loose tiles. If any drywall is damaged in the process, repair it. The tub surround adhesive will not stick if the surface is not smooth.
- 2). Place the bathroom fixtures on pieces of cardboard or paper and use a pencil to trace around them for templates. Make sure the measurements are correct and use the templates to cut out the holes for the fixtures in the tub surround with a utility knife.
- 3). Place the tub surround against the wall and use the pencil to mark the top edges of it on the wall. Use a level to make sure the lines are straight. If the tub surround is too long, you may have to cut the edges off with a jigsaw so it is flush with the wall.
- 4). Apply adhesive to the wall and the back of the tub surround even though peel-and-stick adhesive comes with them. This will ensure the tub surround will stay in place. Install the corner pieces first.
- 5). Measure and mark both the center section of the tub surround and the center of the wall. Make sure the points match up. Apply adhesive to the tub surround piece and the wall. Place the center section on the wall and align with the corner pieces.
- 6). Put the remaining sections on the wall, applying adhesive to the wall and back of the tub surround. Line all the edges with a thin layer of caulk so it does not show. Place caulk on all the edges of the holes for the faucets and replace them. Allow the adhesive to dry for 24 hours before you use the tub.
