I sometimes recieve e-mails from people who have noticed a similarity between shedding hair and a sore painful or sensitive scalp. I sometimes hear comments like " I never felt my scalp itch or hurt before I started to lose my hair, but now that my hair is falling out I notice my scalp and it is sometimes painful."

Sometimes people ask if weather the scalp issue is causing the loss hair or the other way around. And the answer depends on the reason for the hair shedding. There are times when scalp issues can cause balding and sometimes the hair loss can cause the scalp issues. I will explain more in this hair loss review.

The scalp issues that cause hair loss are less common then the hair loss, which can cause scalp issues. However, sometimes the scalp is injured, inflamed, or has a reaction that can set off hair loss. Examples are infections, ringworm, yeast issues, or allergic or autoimmune reactions. Sometimes times hair loss can occur because of drug interactions and side effects of other drugs or sudden changes in your daily regime.

Although the most common reason for hair loss is androgenic alopecia (AGA.) when this occurs the hair follicle struggles to maintain a healthy hair and as a result Miniaturization can occur which also contributes to hair shedding this process can also affect the scalp and make it feel itchy, and overly sensitive.

One other possibility could also be TE or CTE (telogen effluvium or chronic telogen effluvium.) This is a condition where your body will start to shed hair because of extreme dieting or stress, giving birth, surgery, or starting or stopping medications, what generally happens is that many of your hair follicles reset them selves and go into a resting phase.

What can we do about this you might be asking? Well take a look at your daily regime; has anything changed recently, i.e. new shampoos, hair dyes, conditioners ETC? If we can slow down the hair loss the scalp will become healthier.

Sometimes finding out exactly why your hair is shedding is a slow and methodical process. However it is a good idea to diminish the inflammation that is possibly the culprit. There are commercial products that that can aid with this condition like Nism Bio Factors which nourish the scalp at the most basic level. Also there is Procerin, which soothes the scalp with it's numerous herbs, and vitamins, which helps the hair and the follicle flourish.
