Request that job candidates complete a job application designed to help the hiring manager screen out unqualified applicants.

    • 5). Interview job candidates. Hiring managers often conduct an initial telephone interview to determine whether to interview individual candidates face-to-face. Use a variety of interview methods as well as skills assessment tests to analyze the skills and personality of each candidate. Look for workers who will provide a good fit with your organization.

    • 6). Check references. Conduct due diligence to ensure the applicant is who he says he is. Call references and check with his alma mater to ensure he actually went to school there and possesses the necessary degrees, certifications and experience to ensure long-term success in the position.

    • 7). Implement an onboarding program. Proper onboarding ensures the organization provides employees with the necessary tools to become productive team members from day 1. Onboarding consists of welcoming new workers, orienting them with their individual job roles and responsibilities and familiarizing them with the organization as a whole.

    • 8). Integrate employee development into your ongoing staffing process. The ongoing development of workers is one of the most essential elements of staffing an organization correctly. Effective employee development ensures that existing workers maintain the skills necessary to do their jobs. Organizations should also use ongoing training to identify and develop employees who may eventually be promoted into leadership positions.
