    • 1). Display genuine gratitude to the caller. Thank her for calling, emailing, writing, using your company's online chat feature, or for visiting your establishment.

    • 2). Ask how you can assist the customer today.

    • 3). Paraphrase the customer's question to ensure you are on the same page, and let him know you look forward to assisting him.

    • 4). Offer alternatives for problem resolution.

    • 5). Ask for permission to place your caller on hold, when applicable.

    • 6). Document the call or transaction accurately. Correct any misspellings or updated information.

    • 7). Follow up when you say you will, if applicable.

    • 8). Prepare for the next call or customer. Print out and distribute cash receipts and close any open cases for the customer, as applicable.
