Tips For Increasing Your Home Security

Whether you live alone, with your family, or with friends, in a city or in the suburbs, in a house or in an apartment building, some form of home security is very important.
Even if you already have a home alarm system installed, there are plenty of other precautions you can take on your own to protect your house.
Here are just a few: 1.
Everyone knows that a dog is man's best friend.
They make great companions for everyone, whether you are single or have a family.
They love to cuddle, play, and exercise with you.
Best of all, they love to take care of you.
You may think you are the one taking care of your dog, but they look out for you as well.
When you are sad, they come cuddle with you, and when a stranger approaches the door, they bark.
Their bark is your very own home alarm system.
If someone dangerous enters the house, your loyal dog will let you know.
2.
Know your neighbors.
You may pass your neighbors now and then when you are taking out the trash or picking up the newspaper, but do you really know them? Take the time to talk to them, find out about each other, and build a trusting relationship.
This way you know you can always count on each other should something happen.
A strong community in your neighborhood is an important form of security.
3.
It is very common to have extra copies of your keys made in case you lose your main set.
Maybe you have a copy under the welcome mat by the back door, or hidden in a flowerpot in the garden.
Even though they are not visible to the eye, these are prime spots for a burglar to look.
There is no good place to hide a spare key around your house.
Having a spare set of keys is a good idea, but the best place to keep them is with a neighbor that you trust.
This way you know where they are, and a burglar cannot find them.
4.
Speaking of locks, it is a good idea to have your house locks changed every once in awhile.
If you do have extra sets of keys floating around, it is impossible to keep track of them all.
Having a locksmith come by to change your locks is a quick job and a good precaution.
5.
Put a safe in your home for your valuables.
Between passports, money, and jewelry, there are a lot of valuables in your home.
Installing a safe ensures that they are all safe in the same spot.
You will never misplace them, and no one else can reach them unless they have the code or the key.
Do not make extra copies of the key and do not share the code with anyone else.
Of course, installing a home alarm system is the most efficient way to keep out intruders, but these are just a few simple steps you can take to increase your home security.
