      Fort Bragg North Carolina is a prominent U.S. military base located in the south of North Carolina just outside of Fayetteville. Ft. Bragg plays home to about 43,000 military personnel and 8,000 civilians. Along with these personnel comes families. While parents may be kept busy with work, youth at Ft. Bragg can also find a number of activities to take up their day in order to meet other military children and have fun doing so.

    YMCA

    • The Fayetteville YMCA offers tons of activities for kids to enjoy. In the summertime, kids of all ages can attend the YMCA's various summer camps from Preschool Discovery Camp to FIT Camp for young teens. During the school year after school programs are also offered, along with sports leagues such as softball, swimming and volleyball. Young children can also sign up for lessons in different activities including swimming, tennis and gymnastics.

    Horseplay

    • For equestrian activities kids can visit the Smith Lake Riding Stables. The stables offer summer camps that can teach children to ride horses, along with lessons throughout the year. Trail rides are available most days, either in groups or with family, to enjoy nature and ride through the wooded areas of Ft. Bragg. For small children, pony rides are available and ponies can even be rented for small parties. The stables also have schedules of horse shows for children and families to attend.

    Library Events

    • Throckmorton Library is also available to young children at Ft. Bragg to not only teach them skills like reading and spelling, but tons of books to keep your little bookworm entertained. Storytime is offered Wednesdays from 11 am to 12 pm and is free of charge. Parents are encouraged to attend to meet other parents and help their kids socialize while developing a love of reading.

    Smith Lake

    • For nature activities kids can head to Smith Lake, which offers a variety of options both during the school year and in the summer time. The lake offers camping year round with scheduled youth camping trips, along with beach access in the summertime. The lake also offers up scheduled or family-planned biking trips on local trails, along with a paintball course for kids to stay active and have fun all year long.
