You can drive up in your car or arrive by boat and tie up at the dock behind the restaurant. The menu is great and I have never had a meal at Larkins that wasn't great. Lake Lure is probably best known for the movie Dirty Dancing which was filmed there in the 1980's. Other movies have also been made in the area. You will also find that you can rent pedal boats, power boats, or take a ride on a tourist boat all down at the Lake Lure docks. The tourist boat ride is a lot of fun and really enjoyable at sunset.
Just up the road from Lake Lure is Chimney Rock with Chimney Rock State Park and you'll find lots of great places to eat and shop in the small town of Chimney Rock. In the shops you can find some of the most interesting items you will ever see and the scenery is just simply amazing. It doesn't matter if you go summer, winter, fall, or spring you'll find lots of scenery to enjoy and all kinds of other wonderful places just a short drive away.
Cherokee North Carolina is only a few hours away from Lake Lure or Chimney Rock and there on the Cherokee Indian Reservation you'll find all kinds of wonderful things to do. Everything from world class trout fishing in Cherokee tribal waters to Harrah's Cherokee Casino. Be sure when you go to Cherokee that you see the Cherokee Indian Museum and the outdoor play, " Unto These Hills ".
