Avenge My Eyes Crowd Funding on Kickstarter
Avenge My Eyes Crowd funding on Kickstarter
Santa Monica, CA - August 1st, 2013
Writer/Director Alex Jason Kaplan and Actor/Producer Ashley Alvarado had come up with a story they wanted to bring to life called "Avenge My Eyes," and they felt the best way to not only get the money, but also the right exposure, was through crowd funding. Crowd funding was something they didn't know much about, but knew that this film would take a lot of money to make right, so they found Kickstarter, and have been fundraising ever since the launch. But before Kickstarter was even a though for these two, they had to meet.
The story came to fruition when Alex met Ashley at a social media start up company in Los Angeles, and the two started brainstorming after-hours. Ashley came from a background of acting, and had been acting since she was five years old. She had been searching to find the role that would really make a name for herself. She needed the right story though and the right character to play. Alex came from a background of writing having attended the UCLA Program for Screenwriting. He had written many scripts before, but hadn't yet written the script he was ready to go behind the camera and Direct. Having both grown up with creative inspiration in their bones, they came together to try and come up with something worth making. And the conclusion was a story about a 20-year old girl, who fifteen years earlier, witnessed her parents get murdered in her own home, and now plans to avenge their death.
Every single story starts with an idea, and that idea turns into characters, a setting, and a plot for the characters to have a direction. Through hard work and effort, Avenge My Eyes was born, but now they had to put together a team so they can take their short story and make it a film.
At this point in the process, Alex and Ashley searched and searched, but found a Director of Photography, Actors, an Illustrator, a Assistant Director, Makeup Artist, Production Assistants, Grips, Gaffers, along with other key roles needed to make this a successful film. These two are more than determined to getting this film made and entering it into every major film festival. But before that can happen, they need to raise the money.
Join these two filmmakers in making a revenge film that will blow your mind in five minutes of time, and help these budding creatives reach their goal of $8,000 in the next 12 days.
