How to Clean Large Drain Pipes
- 1). Run hot water from your faucet down the drain to loosen any buildup, letting the faucet run for about 15 seconds.
- 2). Drop 1 cup baking soda into the opening for the large drain pipes.
- 3). Pour 1 cup white vinegar on top of the baking soda. The two items instantly foam.
- 4). Give the pipes 1 hour to get fully clean. This gives the foam time to expand and work its way down the large drain pipes, clearing buildup off the drain walls and dissolving built-up residue.
- 5). Turn on your faucet and let hot water run through the pipes for about 30 seconds.
