How to Search for a DEA Number
- 1). Go to the American Medical Association's "Links to State Medical Boards" website.
- 2). Click on the link to access the website for your state's medical board. For example, click on "Florida Board of Medicine."
- 3). Search the state website for a link to check a provider's license status. If you cannot find a relevant link, try calling the agency. Each state differs on what information about a provider they can release to the public. The provider license status links are worded differently from state to state. For example, in Florida, the license search is called "Health Practitioner License Search" while the state of Delaware's search is called "Search for a License."
