Video: Anaerobic Exercises for Gymnastics

Hey guys, I'm Holly Del Rosso and I'm at Life Gym. This is anaerobic exercises for gymnastics. I'm going to show you guys two exercises that are going to help increase your explosivity in vaulting, in sprinting and also your floor exercises. We use a lot of muscle groups in gymnastics and it's really important that we train our anaerobic systems which means working out without oxygen. So this is your strength training, your weight training and before you sprint off that vault you're going to need it. In our first exercise we're going to start with our feet hip width apart. You're just going to squat, jump onto your box, land soft between your toes and your arches of your feet and you are just going to step back down. So another favorite exercise I have for anaerobic conditioning is sprinting. So you want to make sure you are leaning slightly forward, arms are close by your sides and you are just pushing down your arms as fast as you can. You guys are going to do three sets of 15 seconds to start and when you master that, you're going to do eight sets of 15 seconds. This is going to strengthen your floor routine and also power your vaulting.
