• Steamers are products that heat water that is held in tanks and pressurizes the water into steam. When the stream of steam hits soiled surfaces, it not only sterilizes them, but it removes the stain from the surfaces. Chemical cleaners may be unnecessary with steamers since the combination of steam and pressure is enough to remove most stains and soil, including oil-based deposits or hard water deposits. Homeowners can use small versions of floor scrubbers to clean floors thoroughly and quickly. Besides floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners use cleaning fluids or steam to clean soiled carpets. Chemical Cleaners

• Besides cleaning appliances, cleaning tools include chemicals that remove dirt and stains. Dilute chlorine bleach not only removes water-soluble stains, it also kills viruses and bacteria. Even in the dilute state, chlorine is a powerful chemical and needs to be used with care. When combined with ammonia, the gas created can be toxic. Safer cleaners include vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda.
