Colon Cancer Smackdown: Spirits vs. Wine

What's better for you with regard to colon cancer risk: drinking wine or drinking distilled spirits like gin, vodka, and bourbon?
According to researchers from Stony Brook University, the answer is wine. The researchers found that drinking a glass or two of wine each week can cut the risk of colon cancer by more than 60 percent. On the other hand, drinking a lot of distilled spirits (more than nine drinks a week) on a regular basis (for at least 10 years) can increase the risk of developing colon cancer by more than 300 percent.
Drinking beer didn't appear to impact risk. Also, drinking more than two glasses of wine a week didn't provide any additional benefit with regard to decreasing the risk of developing colon cancer.
