    • 1). Cut the paper in a square to the size you need to make the kite. Normal sizes of kites are 2 feet by 2 feet and 1.5 feet by 1.5 feet. However, for festivals like Basant, professional kite makers build huge kites as big as 20 feet by 20 feet wide. The paper should be cut in a square shape with no holes in it.

    • 2). Take two flexible and strong spears made of bamboo. Put the first spear in a straight line from one diagonal of the paper to the other. The length of the spear should not exceed the diagonal length of the paper. Stick the spear to the paper using adhesive material, usually glue.

    • 3). Take the other spear and place it from the third corner to the last remaining edge of the paper. A longer spear should be used that could be bent into a half circle. The edges of the spear should meet the ends of the paper. Stick this spear using adhesive material to the corners of the paper to connect it with the first spear.

    • 4). Stick a small paper cut in a triangular shape to the lower end of the kite. This piece is used to provide balance to the kite while it is in the air. Let the adhesive material to dry.

    • 5). Tie the kite string to the kite in two places. The first position should be a little lower than the upper corner. Tie the string again between middle and lower end of the kite. The lower part of string should be larger than the upper one. Your kite is ready to fly.
