Drinkwell Instructions
- 1). Turn the unit over to ensure that the motor is securely attached. Ensure that both the filter housing and the fountain are clean by wiping with a clean cloth.
- 2). Rinse the filter prior to installation. Insert the filter by opening the lid at the top of the filter housing. The filter should go with the small, narrow, black side facing downwards. It should fit into the second groove from the front of the housing.
- 3). Place a protective mat under the pet fountain if you are using it on carpets or hardwood flooring. This will prevent water damage. Fill the housing and bowl with water up to the water level lines. Fill the reservoir with water. Make sure the lid is securely attached. Turn it over and quickly insert it into the reservoir base behind the filter housing.
- 4). Plug in the pet fountain and turn it on. Set the flow control to your desired rate. The flow control is next to the ramp in the bowl.
- 1). Ensure that the pet fountain is always filled with water. If the water level drops below the intake pipe for the pump, the pump will run dry and the pet fountain will be irreparably damaged.
- 2). Replace the carbon filters every four to six weeks for one dog or cat, more often for multiple pets. Open the lid on the housing, remove the old filter and replace with the new one. Follow the steps outlined above to install the new filter.
- 3). Unplug the water fountain when cleaning. Clean the fountain every week by running the reservoir and bowl under hot water. Wash the bowl and reservoir with soapy water every two weeks. Do not wash the filter with soap. To wash with soapy water, remove the reservoir by removing it from the reservoir base and turning it over quickly. Remove the o-ring and the lid. Remove the filter housing by pressing on the side tabs and lifting up.
- 4). Remove the motor by placing your finger in the holes behind the motor and pressing the motor towards you. The motor will twist loose and then come out. The flow control will automatically be released and can be cleaned with soapy water. Remove the motor and place the white impeller into the soapy water with the reservoir, reservoir lid, filter housing and bowl. Wash all these components thoroughly. Make sure to rinse off all traces of soap. Dry with a clean cloth.
- 5). Wash the inner cavity of the motor with soapy water and a cotton swab. Rinse clean. Replace the impeller and insert the motor back into the motor cavity. Twist it into place. Reattach the flow control. Hold these in place while you replace the filter housing. The housing will click into place when the tabs are aligned. Replace the filter and close the lid. Fill the reservoir with fresh water and replace the o-ring and lid. Turn it over quickly and place it into the reservoir base. Fill the base and housing with water up to the fill level. Plug the device in and switch it on.
