    • 1). Fill a plastic bag with ice cubes and seal closed. Set the bag on top the chewing gum for 10 to 15 minutes or until the gum becomes hard and frozen.

    • 2). Break the gum apart with a dull knife. Scrape off as much gum as possible, then vacuum up the pieces.

    • 3). Combine 2 tbsp. liquid detergent with 1 qt. water. Blot the detergent onto the remaining gum stain until the area is saturated.

    • 4). Scrub the area with a medium-coarse bristled brush. Blot up the detergent and reapply, as necessary. Continue applying and scrubbing until all the gum residue is removed.

    • 5). Rinse the area with clear water. Lay a towel over the wet spot and apply pressure until you have blotted the rug dry.
