How to Make a Flower Girl's Flower Wreath for a Winter Wedding
- 1). Bend the ends of the floral wire with pliers to make small hook shapes, like a candy cane. Bring the hooks together and interlock them to form the wreath ring. Close the hooks with the pliers to keep them from slipping apart.
- 2). Choose an herb or seasonal green foliage as the plant foundation for the wreath. The herbs rosemary and bay leaves would look appropriate in a wedding accessory. Ivy or rose leaves work equally well if you want to limit the headpiece to flowers and leaves.
- 3). Affix the stems of the foundation material to the ring with hot glue or floral tape. Wrap pieces of tape around the stems to anchor them or apply peppercorn-sized beads of hot glue to the ring and press the stems into the glue.
- 4). Select small flowers to ornament the headpiece. Rosebuds, violets, lisianthus, and stephanotis are appropriately small for the wreath. Though baby's breath is typically a bouquet filler, it would look lovely as the floral element in a delicate headpiece. Include sprigs of winter berries such as snowberries or eucalyptus berries to create a seasonal highlight.
- 5). Place several flowers in a sparse arrangement around the ring, or place a single continuous row of blooms around the entire ring. Limit the wreath to a single row of blooms so that it remains delicate and does not overwhelm the flower girl's head.
- 6). Affix the flowers to the wreath by the stems to avoid damaging the petals. Bind the stems to the ring with hot glue or tape.
- 7). Arrange the blossoms and foundation plant to cover any glue or tape.
