How to Make Train Invitations
- 1). Using the pencil and ruler, draw a rectangle that is 2 1/2 inches by 3 inches (A) on blue construction paper. Each shape is labeled with a letter for easy reference. On the same paper, draw another rectangle that is 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches (B) and another that is 1 inch by 2 inches (C). Use scissors to cut out all three rectangles. Set them aside.
- 2). Create a circle that is about 3 inches wide (D) on black construction paper. Then make two smaller circles that are about 3/4 inch wide (E, F). Using scissors, cut out all three circles. Set them aside.
- 3). Draw a rectangle that is 1/2 inch by 3 inches (G) on red construction paper. Then make two triangles with the measurements of 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches (H, I). Last, make a half circle with the flat side measuring 3/4 inch (J). Use scissors to cut out the rectangle, two triangles and half circle. Set them aside.
- 4). Draw a rectangle that is 1 inch by 2 inches (K) on white construction paper. Use scissors to cut out the rectangle.
- 5). Glue rectangles A and B together to form an "L" shape, using rectangle B as the bottom part of the "L". Then, glue rectangle C on rectangle B to create the smokestack.
- 6). Glue circle D at the bottom of rectangle A to make the large wheel of the train engine. Then, glue circles E & F along the bottom of rectangle B to make the smaller front wheels.
- 7). Glue rectangle G at the top of rectangle A to create the roof of the engine. Take triangle H and turn it so that the 2-inch side is at the top and glue it to the top of the back of rectangle C. Glue half circle J on to the front top of rectangle B. Glue triangle I on to the bottom front of rectangle B, under the half circle.
- 8). Glue rectangle K above the large wheel on rectangle A to create the window of the train.
- 9). Using your computer, type the information about the party (date, time, address). The font size used in the example was 11. Print out the information, then cut the information into the shape of a rectangle that measures about 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches. You can also hand-write the information into a white rectangle with the same measurements. Glue the rectangle onto the middle of the train.
