How To Plan A Party For Teenagers

When your teenager tells you they want to have a party (and what teen doesn't at some point?) it pays to put a little extra effort into making it fun for them.
The stereotypical teen party usually involves underage drinking (just watch any recent movie comedy targeted at teens) but there are lots of other ways for them to have a good time.
If it's a birthday party, it helps to come up with a theme to build the party around.
For example, if the party is going to be in the summertime you could plan a beach party, complete with a barbeque and evening bonfire.
Plan some games like beach volleyball or football that so they can burn off some energy.
Heck, you could even truck in some sand and make it a real beach! Some other party themes you could consider include: - pool party - pajama party (for girls) - makeover "spa" party (for girls) - action movie night (for boys) - scary movie night If you're having the party in your home you could consider a costume party.
It doesn't have to be Halloween to put on a costume.
There are lots of themes you could choose from, including: - favorite movie characters - famous people from history - a decade party (60's, 70's, 80's) - murder mystery When you send out the invitations, make sure you let their parents know that the party will be chaperoned.
An unsupervised party is always a concern for parents, and letting them know you'll be there to watch over the proceedings will put their minds at ease.
You might even think about having an "adults" party in another part of the house so the parents can come and have their own fun (just make sure the parties stay separate or you'll have a bunch of sullen teens on your hands!)
