DIY: Brass Cleaning
- 1). Prepare a solution for cleaning the brass. In a plastic bowl, mix 1 qt. of warm water with 1 tbsp. liquid dishwashing soap.
- 2). Put on cleaning gloves to prevent adding fingerprint smudges to the brass. Using a microfiber cloth, gently wipe the soapy water over the brass to detach grime and remove oily residue. Dislodge gunk from any engravings and crevices using a clean toothbrush.
- 3). Rinse the brass with fresh warm water. Thoroughly dry the brass with a second microfiber cloth.
- 4). Pour 2 oz. of liquid brass polish into a second plastic bowl. Using a third microfiber cloth, rub the polish over the brass until the object is thoroughly coated. Let the polish dry on the brass for three minutes.
- 5). Buff the brass to remove the polish and restore luster. Gently rub a fourth microfiber cloth over the entire object until the brass shines.
