How to Make Cake Slice Box Favors
- 1). Choose printed card stock and decorations that match the theme of your party. For example, card stock with baby footprints is suitable for a baby shower and card stock imprinted with balloons is great for birthday party favors. Ribbon, glitter glue, gemstones and stickers that go with the theme of your card stock can be used for decorating the finished favor box. The scrap-booking aisles of craft stores are abundant with embellishments suitable for every party genre and skill level.
- 2). Print the cake slice box template. If necessary, use a copy machine to reformat the size of the template to the desired size. Evaluate the favor that will be placed inside of the finished box to determine the appropriate size for the template. Making a sample box will give you an idea of what the completed box will look like and what will fit inside.
- 3). Cut out the template on the outer solid, outer lines. Using the template as your guide, cut out the shapes from the pieces of card stock. Reproduce the dotted lines on the template onto the boxes to indicated the fold lines.
- 4). Locate the bottom triangle on the template that will serve as the bottom of the box. Folding along the guidelines, fold each section up and over the bottom of the box. Press down the folds using a scoring tool to ensure crisp, smooth folds.
- 5). Make an incision in the tab of the back of the box, in the same location as on the template.
- 6). Fold the box into the cake slice shape. Place a small amount of glue on the top and front tabs of the box and then fold them -- one at a time -- into the box; press firmly for the glue to set.
- 7). Fold the back flaps in toward the box by folding the flat end in first, then folding in the shaped end. Tuck the tab into the slit on the flat end.
- 8). Decorate the cake slice favor box with your chosen embellishments and place the favors inside. Assemble the boxes into the shape of a cake and display at the event.
