E85 Fueled Vehicles

    • E85 describes a blend of automotive fuel consisting of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. Vehicles able to run on this fuel generally pay less per gallon for E85 than regular gasoline, while burning far fewer emissions. Using E85 fuel also results in decreased fuel efficiency. Cars that run on E85 can also operate with regular gasoline, but not too many models have this dual, or flex-fuel, capability. The following list, by manufacturer, are some of the flex-fuel vehicles available.

    Ford Motor Company

    • Since the 1990s, Ford has offered flex-fuel vehicles. Some of the models sold with this feature include the F-150, Taurus, Escape, Expedition, E-Series vans, Fusion and Crown Victoria. Mercury brand models include the Mariner and the Milan, while Lincoln brand models include the Town Car and Navigator.

    Chrysler Group

    • Under the Chrysler brand special versions of the Sebring, Town and Country, and Aspen are flex-fuel capable. Dodge vehicles include select Ram trucks, Avenger, Dakota and Caravan. Jeep E85 models include the Grand Cherokee and Commander.

    General Motors

    • In 2009, General Motors (GM) retired its Pontiac and Saturn brands, while selling off Hummer and Saab. That leaves four brands: Cadillac, Buick, GMC and Chevrolet. Buick sells the Lucerne, and Cadillac offers the E85 Escalade. GMC sells several flex-fuel models, including the Sierra, Savanna and Yukon. Chevrolet offers the Impala, Malibu, Silverado, Express, Avalanche, Tahoe and Suburban.

    Mercedes-Benz

    • The German luxury make offers just one flex-fuel vehicle for sale--its C300 sedan.

    Nissan

    • Flex-fuel versions of Nissan's Titan truck and burly Armada SUV are available.

    Toyota

    • Toyota's popular Tundra truck and luxurious Sequoia SUV are sold with ethanol capability.

    Retired Models

    • Manufacturers will sometimes discontinue FFV models, but those cars are still available on the used-car market and include: Mercedes C240 and C320; Mercury Mountaineer and Sable; Dodge Stratus; Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Uplander; Saturn Relay; and Pontiac G6.
