Popular attractions

Dubrovnik is full of historical churches, monasteries, a cathedral and museums. A walk around the city walls will help any visitor get their bearings and learn more about the sights to see here. In addition, visitors can take many short trips/day trips to get to know the area better. For example, a trip to the Lapad Peninsula Beaches gives the visitor a chance to experience Copacabana beach, which is one of the largest beaches within the Dubrovnik area.

Another day trip worth thinking about is a trip by ferry to Lokrum Island. Visitors here can enjoy the beaches (including a naturist beach) and the botanical gardens which are full of tropical and sub-tropical plants. There is also an interesting fort and a monastery on the island.

Activities

As well as many cultural things to do and see (and many beaches to relax on!), Dubrovnik also hosts a cultural festival in the summer which honours classical theatre, music, arts and history. This festival lasts for 6 weeks in July and August and many returning holidaymakers book well in advance to ensure that they will be able to attend.

As an alternative there are plenty of other activities in and around the city including swimming, scuba diving, sailing and jet-skiing along the Dubrovnik coastline. Visitors can also go hiking, cycling, walking and climbing.

There is also plenty to do in the evenings with many bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs to choose from. The cuisine on offer in Dubrovnik is varied and includes many regional specialities and freshly caught seafood and fish.

Accommodation

Hotels in Dubrovnik are plentiful and offer all kinds of classes and costs. As an alternative visitors are now more likely to rent a property for either a short break or a long holiday. There are rental and self-catering apartments, houses, flats and villas available all over the town and by the beach areas depending on preference.

Rental properties are available to suit all sizes of party -- from couples to large parties or families -- and all budgets -- from the basic to the luxurious. Some self-catering properties are housed in converted traditional properties and some have been purpose built.

Conclusion

Dubrovnik offers a diverse mix of activities and things to do. This isn't just a town for history/culture enthusiasts -- a holiday here will also suit beach and sun lovers, people who like to get out and about and see different cultures and types of landscape and people who like to find some sporting activity for their holidays.
