Bourgas is the fourth biggest city of Bulgaria that lies next to the Black Sea.
The coastal city is filled with outdoor cafes and establishments-all giving locals and tourists that Mediterranean feeling, even though it's never near the Mediterranean.
Bourgas is not popular as a summer beach destination, even though there are beaches there.
But then again, travelers flock the city during the summer months, arriving at the airport in heaps.
Most of them would take their ride to their hotel destinations using Bourgas airport transfer services.
For those who never had a chance to pre-book a taxi can always use the city's public transport system.
What makes Bourgas a popular summer destination is the fact that it lies proximal to popular resorts adjacent to the Black Sea.
In Bourgas itself, you can spot salt lakes in the outskirts.
The urban zone is filled with fashion shops, shoe stores, bistros, bars, and other establishments.
Most of the tourists that stop by the Bourgas airport head for nearby resorts, like Sunny Beach or Sozopol.
This means that Bourgas is not the actual destination but is just a stopover point-at least for many vacationers.
Winter is not a favorable time for travelers.
Cold and snowy winters can spoil a vacation, and only very few people would want to spend time in this city during the cold months, lasting from November to April.
Temperatures during winter may be around 4.
5 degrees Celsius and may drop below freezing temperature in January and February.
Tourists start arriving around May, but you do not get to see a crowd at the airport until July and August, the warmest months.
Summer brings tropical air to this otherwise temperate region.
Those who take time to check out the natural wonders of Bourgas may go to the central beach, which is located beside the Sea Gardens.
It's not your luxury spot, but those looking for a place to swim, stroll or windsurf are up for a treat in their central beach.
Bourgas is also home to several museums, which would please art and artifact lovers.
Some of the popular museums are Petko Zadgorski Art Gallery, Bogoridi Gallery, Ethnographic Museum, and Historical Museum.
You may also want to check out the Bourgas Opera House, which features year-round performances.
During summer, festivals happen every now and then.
You can check out the Annual International Folklore Festival, which has been a tradition since 1965.
This festival features Balkan dance and music, and is held at several venues.
You can spot performances at the Open Air Theatre sometime in late August.
Another music festival is the Spirit of Burgas, which takes place for three days.
Visitors attend this festival and enjoy music of various genres.
For the family, the Sea Garden offers a favorable spot.
This park is great for kids, as it has a fairground with merry-go-round, helter-skelter, dodgems, and so on.
There is also a playground with a sandpit and swings.
Ice-cream stores are all over the place.
Nightlife doesn't go dull.
If you're after nighttime fun, go to Aleksandrovska Street, where most bars are located.
You can also check out Kadiffe, a café-piano bar, and Fifth Avenue Piano Bar.
These two are popular.
Getting around is never difficult, because there are several taxis and buses available.
If you will take a Bourgas taxi, make sure the driver understands and speaks English.
