The 2005 ACC/AHA/SCAI guideline endorsed routine follow-up angiography between 2 and 6 months after ULMCA PCI (Class IIa recommendation). However, given that this strategy is unable to predict a situation where acute, sudden stent thrombosis might occur, in addition to the risk associated with angiography in a patient who underwent ULMCA PCI, the 2009 Focused Update no longer recommends routine surveillance angiography.
