    • 1). Dampen a rag with denatured alcohol, and rub down the wood filler with the rag. Allow the alcohol to soak for 20 seconds.

    • 2). Wipe down the wood filler, again using the rag, and then abrade the filler using steel wool. Work slowly using your finger to work the wool into the groove, being careful not to scratch the wood adjacent to the filler.

    • 3). Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until all or most of the wood filler has been removed. Scrape away any remaining wood filler residue using a dental hook. Proceed to Step 4 only if any wood filler remains in the wood.

    • 4). Put on rubber gloves.

    • 5). Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3, except use lacquer thinner in place of denatured alcohol.
