How to Use Your Cell Phone USB Modem
- 1). Attach your phone to your computer using a USB data cable. These often come with phones, and can be purchased at computer retailers.
- 2). Install the drivers of your cell phone on your computer. Many phones come with a CD containing drivers. If your phone did not come with a CD, locate the drivers from the cell phone manufacturer's website.
- 3). Enter the phone number for your cell phone provider's network in the modem dial-up properties, commonly found in the "Network" settings of the main menu of your phone. The iPhone and other devices call this type of connection "tethering." Enabling it allows you to use your phone as a modem.
- 4). Log on to your computer. Your phone should state "Internet Connection" or similar to indicate that tethering has been activated and is working.
