How to View the Internet on a Home Television
- 1). Determine the video output of your computer. Nearly all computers will have a VGA output, though other common connections are DVI and S-Video.
- 2). Determine the available video inputs on the television. Older models might have a coaxial RF connector or RCA composite video (yellow) connector, newer HDTVs typically have several inputs such as HDMI, component video (RCA connectors labeled Pr, Pb and Y), VGA and DVI.
- 3). Acquire any cables or adapters needed to connect between the computer's video output and one of the TV's video inputs. If the TV and computer have VGA connections, you'll only need a VGA cable; if the computer has a VGA output and the TV has a composite input, you'll need a VGA cable, an RCA cable and a video-to-VGA converter.
- 4). Connect the cabling and adapters between the computer and the TV and select the appropriate monitor input on the TV. If there is no picture on the screen, you might need to adjust the screen display setting on the computer.
